Earth Day Observed
A galaxy of learned guests graced the campus of Markaz Academy English Senior Secondary School, Hojai on April 22, 2022 to take part in a special interactive session with the students of the institution on the ocassion of Earth Day. The panel of guests included Mr.Saleh Ahammad,LL.M, AJS, Secretary, Hojai District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Miss Sahana Begum Chowdhury, Advocate, Hojai Bar Association -cum- Legal Aid Counsel, DLSA, Hojai and advocate Mr. Kausar Ahmed.
Speaking to the students Mr Saleh Ahammad drew upon the Constitution of India that lays emphasis on the preservation of the environment. He urged the students to resolve to celebrate their birthdays by planting a tree that day every year.
Miss Sahana Begum Choudhury and Mr Kausar Ahmed also emphasised on the need to protect and preserve the only known habitable planet in the Universe. The welcome address was delivered by Principal Mr. Hussain Ahmed while the Head of the Department (Education) Markaz-ul Ma’arif Dr. Razi Ahmad underscored how the tenets of Islam also emphasise upon the need to preserve and protect our natural habitats. Both the speakers also reminded the students about the great stress laid by Markaz-ul Ma’arif working president Dr S. H. Choudhury’s abiding commitment to preventing wanton felling of trees.
The day concluded with the guests joining the students in planting saplings inside the sylvan school campus.
